EVENT - The absolute Gallery - Soho 2012
The absolute Gallery was pleased to be in collaboration with Ouen Press
at the launch of the brilliant new novel 'Romance' by Michael Connor,
which is set in southern Africa. Many of the pieces from the Bush and
Beach Safari lent themselves well to help set the scene for the launch
party in Soho in September. |
NEWS RELEASE - June 2011
Exciting News! The absolute Gallery is proud to announce the representation of the talented emerging artist Stephanie S Smith. To see Stephanie’s work click here. All pieces displayed are original works from an emerging artist who we believe will see her work become much sought after. Finely detailed pencil and charcoal drawings, plus thought provoking colour cubist pieces which prove not only to be pleasurable art but have a strong possibility of becoming sound long term investments. |
- Laurence Michael Connor has now returned to Southern Africa where he is immersed in conservation, guiding and photography, on the Indian Ocean coast of South Africa and Mozambique. Since his departure from the UK on 1st January this year we have kept in regular contact and have seen some exciting images he has taken which we expect to be displaying as part of his portfolio later this year.Click here to see current portfolio.
- Will St. Clair Thomson left the UK in mid January for a motorcycle journey through both north and south islands of New Zealand. His travels there coincided with the earthquake in Christchurch, but fortunately he was unscathed. There has been much radio silence from Will, which we understand is a good sign – an indication of his artistic confidence! Will is now back in the UK, and we are excited to see new sculptures from what we are sure will have been an inspirational experience. Click here to see his current pieces.
- Stephanie S Smith was our lead piece in this News Release and she becomes the 3rd and newest artist attached to The absolute Gallery. For many months she has been working in Botswana, teaching English and History to 11-15 year old school kids, she helps with community projects including the SOS Children’s Village and with an animal shelter.
Setswana language helped greatly in overcoming their misgivings. She says she is "belly deep
in nature and culture", which is a constant source of inspiration, and she is very eager to get
back to the easel. This is Stephanie's second spell in Africa, previously being involved in
conservation in Namibia.
